English Language Arts
Northwest Education Services' literacy team members provide support services to all local districts in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau counties. These services are based on the Michigan English Language Arts State Standards (Common Core State Standards) Kindergarten through 12th grade. This team offers guidance and support in the areas of English Language Arts curriculum, instruction and assessment, such as:
- Professional Learning Opportunities
- Committee Work
- Data Analysis and Use for Instruction and Intervention
- Resource Guidance, Selection, and Development
- Teacher Coaching
These services are available through area-wide professional learning and focused support as needed at a building or district level. Our goal is to ensure leadership and instruction for area teachers that results in student achievement and growth in English Language Arts.

Meet the Team
Northwest Education Services' Literacy Collaborative shares a common vision of creating lifelong learners through literacy and language arts education. Our collaboration provides the opportunity to learn from one another, align procedures and practices, and monitor the effectiveness of our instruction by developing and sharing results from common assessment practices. Through this work, we sustain our mutual accountability for all students’ learning.
